need new car, not yet discharged
May 10th, 2008 by Questions
My husband and I had to file for bankruptcy in January 2008. They came and took our vehicles this month. We are finding it very difficult without the vehicle, as I have a job that I am called at a moments notice and the bus is not always available. A family member has offered us a loan of $10000 to purchase a used vehicle. Can they come and seize that also as we are not yet discharged?

No, if you are simply using someone elses car there is nothing you need to worry about. The only requirement you have is that if you borrow money you have to disclose to those you borrow it from that you are in bankruptcy. I would also recommend you contact your trustee and explain what is taking place just so they are aware and kept in the loop.
