How will my bankruptcy affect my new wife’s credit.
February 2nd, 2008 by Questions
My wife and I would like to purchase a house. I have claim bankruptcy twice before I met her. She has excellent credit. Can my bankruptcy affect her credit or her/our ability to obtain a mortgage? We both make good money, her more that I. Can I still use my income in addition to hers to obtain a mortgage? If so, how will my bad credit history affect this? Is it better for her to obtain the mortgage on her own?

If you use your income in the application then likely your credit history will also be reviewed, so I would think it is better to jsut use her income when making the application.
Having said that, this is not my area of expertise, you would be far better to contact a representative of your bank or a mortgage broker, explain the situation and follow their advise as they would be much more familiar with the requirements to qualify than I.
