Is there a certain amount of time one has to wait after bankruptcy before they can start a new business?

You may start a new business the same day you file for bankruptcy if you want to, but most trustees will caution against it (particularly if being self-employed contributed to your bankruptcy).

You need to ask yourself why you are starting the business and whether or not you are simply making your life more complicated than it needs to be… It might be time to try a different approach.
