If I have made/received an insurance claim for personal effects (due to a flood in my basement), can I keep the money that I have been given from the claim??

You will need to disclose and discuss this immediately with your trustee, failure to do so would be considered an offense and something that could likely prevent you from being eligible for discharge.
As for where those funds will likely end up, I would expect they will have to be paid to the estate. Traditionally the only court settlements that are considered exempt and you would get to keep relate to personal injury or pain and suffering.
