Bank Account

January 15th, 2008 by Questions

On November 17th 2005 I was granted an automatic discharge under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act s. 168.1(1), except the claims listed in s.178(1) {student loans}. Can I safely open a bank account(including at a financial institution affected by my bankruptcy) without risking the chance of having my account frozen, having my funds seized, or being harassed by a collection agency, the government, or the bank itself?

Sure you can – although the banks that were listed on your bankruptcy may not want you as a customer again…
