identity theft and bankruptcy
October 10th, 2007 by Questions
I have just been discharged from bankruptcy and have also been the victim of identity theft – my social insurance number has been used by another person. I have filed a police report, informed the credit bureaus and have been advised by the government to start a process which will in the end asign me a new SIN.
Will my bankrtupcy follow me when I get the new SIN?

I have never run into this, but I would expect that that information would be transferred directly over to the new SIN, assuming it was incurred by you not the theif.
When you find out if you wouldn’t mind posting the result, I would be curious to see what happens.
