CONSUMER PROPOSAL AND MORTGAGE
January 27th, 2009 by Questions
My husband and I are in the first year of a 5 year proposal. Would it be possible for us to get a mortgage with a strong
co-signer while we are in the proposal?
We have our own home, but its a builder take back mortgage with no renewal after 3 years. So we would have to get our own mortgage. What are the chances while in the proposal with a co-signer?

It will be more difficult to get a “new” mortgage now that you are in your proposal than it would have been to find one before you started your proposal. A co-signer will defeinitely help, assuming the co-signer can qualify for a mortgage themselves.
