I took some free high school courses at a local college – Do these count as “Attending School”?
Hello,
I last attended school almost 7 years ago and plan to file for bankruptcy. However, I took some free high school courses at a local college and registered then withdrew from some college courses. I also took some book keeping classes from a very small now no longer existing school. Do these count as “attending School”? None of these things show on my taxes. I received no accreditation for any of these course.
Thanks

You should first check with the educational institution you attended 7 years ago in order to confirm that the last day of attendance was in fact 7 years prior to your bankruptcy. If so, then the 7 year clock will not have restarted just because you attended other institutions or took other courses of study. As long as your subsequent studies were not the same course of study you were financed for 7 years ago, then your discharge from bankruptcy will extinguish the student loans related to it.
