I am not sure what you mean by “against you”. The best way to think of a trustee is like a referee. We don’t work for you – we administer bankruptcies pursuant to the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act. Trustees don’t provide you with legal advice – we can tell you how the law works and if you give us a set of facts we’ll tell you how we think they will be dealt with if you file for bankruptcy.

It is not like dealing with a lawyer – a trustee can’t forget something you tell them. Our job is to help the “honest, but unfortunate person to get a clean financial start”.
