My girlfriend is thinking about claiming bankruptcy weve been living together for 6 months, will this affect me?

Not directly, but the cost of filing bankruptcy is based on household size and total income. IF you are living together such that you benefit from each other’s income and expenses the Court may treat you as a household and then your girlfriend’s payments will be based, in part, on your combined income.

This is something for her to discus with her trustee BEFORE she decides to file.
