help me
i’m wondering if trustees look into spending habits and where money went to prior to the bankruptcy at all. like if i had an inheritance of 10,000 in the last few months and had to spend that on house repair or something, would the trustee look at that and refuse us to be able to file?

Yes, the trustee has an obligation to look in to these types of transactions and determine if they were detrimental to the general body of creditors. If it was determined that you shouldn’t have used the inheritance for the purposes you did and it should have been used to pay off some of your creditors then you may have to pay a portion of that inheritance back into the trustee to be re-distributed to the creditors and right the infraction you may have committed. This is regardless of whether it was done purposely or inadvertently.
