property in bankruptcy
hello, my question is how being married can affect personal bankruptcy. for example. the house we live in is in my wifes name alone , and does have equity. i personally have lost my job and cannot afford credit cards. if i declare bankruptcy will it affect our ( her ) property. ? thanks

As long as the house has always been in your wife’s name, or at leats has been in her name for a number of years, it should not be involved if you file for bankruptcy. Only jointly owned things are impacted when you file.
