Any of your creditors has the right to “oppose” your discharge from bankruptcy whihc means a hearing will be scheduled so that a Court may review your file.
It is a fairly common threat by collectors to tell you they don’t care about your bankruptcy and/or they will oppose and get a Court to order you to pay them off. It’s a hollow threat. In the 25,000 cases that our firm has handled I have never seen a collection agency oppose someone discharge – they are simply trying to scare you into making some kind of payment.
By the way, if you do make a payment to a creditor after you file for bankrutpcy it can get you in a lot of trouble – don’t do it. In fact, if this company calls again take their information down and call your trustee so they can speak to them….
