how to know what i owe

i was forced to drop out of school in 2000. i had a s. loan from the b.c. gov.; the fed. gov. took my tax rebates in the early 2000`s. since then i have been off the financial map – not even a bank account. how can i find out how much i owe without drawing unwanted attention to myself? i`ve made very little money for years so is negotiating or bankruptcy (over 10 years now) the better option?

Sorry, but there’s no way to find out how much you owe on your student loans without asking. Contact the National Student Loan Centre and ask for our balance and your end of study date. Once you know how big the problem is, then you can decide what your next steps may be…
