My brother in Law died two weeks ago and my husband and I flew out east for the funeral. between airfare and hotel and car rental, food etc. we spend $2000. can we deduct this…

I am sorry for your families’ loss, but no, you can’t claim this. The test is simple – can you deduct the expense from your income taxes? If you can’t then you can’t claim it as a deduction in your bankruptcy.
