Banker has owings with his own bank

Hi, I am a banker and the majority of my debt comes from the bank that I worked for,
I wonder if i could be dismissed by my company withe the debt settlement, or consumer proposal plan.

Legally speaking an employer cannot terminate your employment solely based on the filing of a consumer proposal. As for a debt settlement plan as this is not legislative based there would be nothing that would prevent an employer dismissing for the filing of this.

However, I would recommend you proceed with caution, as even if you file a consumer proposal and legally they can’t dismiss you based on this, in most employment situations if they really want you dismissed it is often very easy to find alternative reasons for the dismissal.
