If you’d like a detailed answer try a Google search – you’ll find a couple of law sites that will provide quite good answers.
Briefly, a judgment is the product of a successful Court action (law suit). It is the Court’s order that says how much money you have to pay the person that sued you.
Once someone has a Judgment they have to decide what to do with it. The next step is to obtain a Writ of Seizure or Writ of Execution (depending on where you live). This document allows your wages to be garnisheed, or bank accounts to be taken.
Judgments can usually be included in either a bankruptcy filing or a proposal – you’ll need to bring a copy with you when you see a trustee for them to be able to tell you whether or not they can help you.
