Gambling Debtbut

I have run up over $100K in gambling debts in the last 4 months… I am swamped by my debt, my livein girlfriend doesn`t know. Is bankruptcy an option? ALso, I voluntarily pay spousal/child support so it is in a separation agreement but isn`t deducted from my pay cheque does that come off the amount I pay?

When you have issues with gambling a bankruptcy can still help, but there is some uncertainty when it comes to your discharge. Ultimately the trustee will have to notify the court of your gambling history and the court will have to determine whete or not to grant you the discharge or wheter they feel conditions need to be imposed as a result of your actions. It is helpful if you can demonstrate to the court that you have gotten the necessary help and the gambling is not as big of an issue as it once was, but it is common for the court to require you to pay a portion of the gambling debts back.
