while i am not paying creditors, are the credit card companies going to be contacting my employer to guaranshee my wages?

Eventually you are right, it is normal for any of your creditors to garnish wages in the event of non-payment. However, in order to get this ability they must go to court and first obtain a judgment. So this alone takes a few weeks and you must first be notified. So even if the creditors start to go down this road you will be notified and you can then put in place one of the options that will remove these collection abilities from the creditors (i.e. the filing of a bankruptcy, consumer proposal or one of the other alternatives to bankruptcy).
