Bankruptcy
My huband and I both lost our jobs and have had a very hard time paying all of our bills on EI…the other day we got served papers to go to court and I am wondering if it too late to file for bankruptcy? Would a proposal help? I am so worried about this…what if our wages are garnished? I never inteded for this to happen but it did….I know I owe this and I should pay it but I am not sure how I will be able to. Can you direct me please?

It is not to late to file either a bankruptcy or a consumer proposal. Either of these will prevent the court action from continuing, depending on the type of lawsuit (i.e. bankrutpcy cannot protect you from criminal charges), and prevent any garnishment.
From the sounds of it you would be best to contact local trustee to prevent this action from going any further.
