surplus calculation with C.L. partner

Hi, I am looking at filing myself. I understand how to calculate surplus income with my income and my common law partner`s income. However I am not sure how the Child support payments that he must make are seen. They are a non-dicresionary bill we have to pay but will it be looked at it I am the only one filing? The child support payments are his. Thanks for any help you can provide.

The support payments will be deducted from your CL spouse’s income and thereby reduce the total household income. The actaull surplus you are required to pay is based on your percentage of the total so while deducting the support decreases the total income, it also increases your percentage of the total. Your trustee can show you how all of this works.
