The government maintains a central listing of all bankruptcy filings goign back to the 70s. Trustee are required to do a search on any person that wants to file for bankruptcy to determine if (and how many times) someone has filed for either a bankruptcy or a proposal in the past.

I strongly suggest you be “upfront” with your trustee regarding any previous bankrutcies or proposals – they will find out anyway when they do the seacrh and if you don’t tell them first it may damage your credibility (which will just make the whole process more difficult for you).
