taking on common law debt

I am considering living common law with my partner.. I know he has a high amount for debt. Once we live together will it be our joint income that determines what he would need to repay?

A licensed trustee said...

I am assuming that your partner is considering whether or not to file for bankruptcy or a proposal. If that is the case then the total household income will be used to determine what sort of monthly payment will be required. You will not personally be required to make any of these payments, but your income will affect how much your partner has to pay.
