new laws

If bankruptcy was filed in Oct 2007 and discharge, as per hearing, will be granted July 2009, are the new RRSP exempt rules applicable or do the old laws apply and RRSP`s will be seized? Thank you.

As you filed bankruptcy under the old system, you would fall under the old laws. As a result you will loose your RRSP’s. The key date that the system changed was July 7, 2008, so anything prior to that would still operate with RRSP’s not being exempt.
