credit checking vs. Employment

Hi

Can an expert tell me whether a bankruptcy record or a high risk credit rating can lead to your employer from turning down a new recruit? Say working as a bank teller?

Thanks

Both a bankruptcy or a high risk credit rating can potentially prevent you from being hired in certain capacities. While this isn’t very common, the example that you raise is a good one, a bank teller. Often banks are not willing to hire when you have a bankruptcy on your record, but that is one of the few we have found. There are also some professional associations whose bylaws have an impact on your employability or ability to qualify for the designation (i.e. CGA), but overall we find most occupations don’t look to significantly at your credit in the hiring process.
