sponsorship and bankruptcy

I am sponsoring a foreign nanny, the application is close to being finalized but I am to file bankruptcy in a month, will this affect the sponsorship?

Probably – I don’t beleive you may sponsour a person if you are an undischarged bankrupt. I suggest you contact Immigration Canada and ask them directly.

I am a little concerned that you’re bringing in a nanny at the same time that you are planning to file for bankruptcy. I realize it takes time to bring in a nanny and people’s situations change, but you’ll likley have to explain yourself to both your trustee and the Court if/when you file for bankruptcy. Think of this as a “heads-up”.
