Stopping the Harassment

My sister has been harassed now on her unpaid debts for some times. They know she has no job and is physically disabled. Everytime they call she tells them she can not pay the debt and yet they do not stop calling. She has no money even for bankruptcy. She is embarassed but does not know what to do. Is there anything she can do to make the credit card companies leave her alone???

Unfortunately the only ways to stop the harrassment are:

a) file a bankruptcy

b) file a consumer proposal

c) file for Orderly Payment of Debt

d) negotiate something directly with the creditors that will be acceptable to them.

Otherwise the creditors will likely continue their collection efforts. This will persist for a while, and eventually when the creditors finally realize their attempts are to no avail they should stop. The real unfortunate thing is in the mean time your sister must put up with the calls.
