my husband & I have one credit card in both our names. What happens to the outstanding debt if I file for bankruptcy?

If you file for bankruptcy you will no longer be responsible for any of the debts your name is listed on. However, you husband is a different story. Any debt in his name he will still be responsible for. So if you file bankruptcy and have joint debts with his husband, legally you will be cleared from those debts but he will not.
