student loans discharge

I have 3 student loand in a collection agency and am trying to make small payments to keep them up. I will have been out of school for 7 years very shortly. Do I have to claim bankruptcy to have them discharged or can I just notify the agency that 7 years is up and they will request a discharge

You will have to file either or a bankruptcy or a proposal to be cleared from these debts. Simply notifying the collectors 7 years is up means nothing outside of the bankruptcy or proposal process.

If you need to look into clearing yourself from these student loans you should contact a local trustee for more details.
