New laws

I have student loans that are 8 years old. I am waiting for the new bankruptcy laws to come into force. What is the usual time for the new law to come into force? Is there someone in the government that we can contact to exert pressure?

Unfortunately this is far from a usual situaiton so there is no way to project with any certainty when these laws will become effective. The latest direction I have heard from the Superintendent of Bankruptcy is fall 2008. However, this is the 3rd date I have heard from them so I don’t have a great deal of confidence in this as of yet.
