Royal Assent > Proclamation > Law ?

Bill C-12 received Royal Assent but has not become active law and no anticipated date has been given by the government as to when that might happen. Now it only requires proclamation by the Governor-in-council to come into force which was supposed to be only a formality. Any word on this proclamation ? What is involed ? Do they just stand up in the house and speak ? Please! Please! Anything to help me understand this process/nightmare of delay.

I sense your frustration, but currenly no one knows when it will be brouht into effect. Yesterday we met with a senior official from the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy (the agency responsible for implementing the new law) and he told us the agency has no idea when it will happen. Watch the media – it will likely be big news.
