overseas

our family has lived overseas for the past 3 years. we have not been able to keep up with our payments in canada and have not made any payment in the past 2 years. can we file for bankruptcy from overseas ? can you suggest a trustee ?? we used to live in Brampton Ontario.

According to the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, to be eligible to file a bankrutpcy you either have to have resided in Canada in the last year or currently have property in Canada. If you can’t fulfill either of these criteria than you would have to return to Canada to be eligible to file a bankruptcy here.
