paperwork/accounting

I will have to personally declare bankrutcy soon do to the amount of GST that my company owes, my question is that the goverment keeps sending me letters asking for different reports but since I am financially strapped I stopped paying my bookeeper, will all my paperwork have to be in order when I file? Should I pay him to get everything organised?

At some point, all of the government’s paperwork will have to be completed. Most trustees will encourage you to get it done BEFORE you file (we certainly do). The reason is simple enough: if you wait until after you file and for some reason you don’t get around to doing it you will not be dsicharged from your bankruptcy.

Talk to a trustee in your area to see what the local practice is, but my advice is to get it done first, then file.
