Can my student loan be discharged

I have been told that for a student loan to be cleared by banckrupcy a person has to wait a period of 10 years.

I completed my studies in 1996..declared bankrupcy 1998 and was disharged.

Technically, I should be cleared from paying the debt…

Here is the problem…neither a trustee nor a lawyer want to handle this case…I was told there is no chance that the loan will be discharged…any suggestions ?
