debts owed in the US

I’m a Canadian residing in Ontario. I worked in the states on a green card and racked up a bunch of credit card debt that I can’t pay back. What are my options of living outside of the US and filing bankruptcy there? Can my creditors there follow me to Canada?

Filing for bankruptcy in Canada can only release you from Canadian debt. Now this normally wouldn’t be much of an issue if you weren’t planning on returning to the states, but seems how you work there it would likely cause you some significant difficulties.

You would be best served to contact a bankruptcy attorney in the state you normally work.
