bankrutcy exemptions.

I looked at what was exempt in my province if I choose to go bankrupt. You are allowed to keep approx 5000 in my province .With bankrutcy ,I can keep my personal belongings up to the 5000.If I dont declare does it mean my things can be seized. I have nothing of any real value .I estimate my belongings are below 5000 .My income is extremely low and I probably couldn’t afford to go bankrupt.Any advice would be great.

The provincial exemptions apply to your creditors whether or not you file bankruptcy. Basically, the government has established minimum values for a reasonable standard of living and unless you volunatrily waive those limits (by pledging your furniture as collateral) then they cannot be touched by you creditors.
