Have you ever declared bankrupcy? question on credit application
If a person goes bankrupt, gets discharged, six years pass, and it goes off the credit record, is it then like you never went bankrupt?
In particular, is anyone allowed to ask you if you’ve ever been bankrupt (on an application form or such) and treat you differently if so?
If asked, and it’s off your credit record, is it permissible to say no?

In terms of impact on your credit history, yes, it is then like you never have been bankruptcy. However, any institution is permitted to do their own investigation when make lending or hiring decisions and there is nothing in the legislation that prevents them from using this information when making these decisions. If a potential employer or lender requests a copy of your credit history you can always say no, but I don’t think you would stand a chance of further consideration. You would be better off to check in advance to see if any remnant of the bankruptcy exists on your credit history report, and if so be prepared to justify what happened and what is different now.
