tax refund before bankruptcy going to trustee?
I filed for bankruptcy in 2001-discharged 2002. I am getting a tax credit for the years 1999 to 2000 because my daughter is disabled. The government says that my file did not clear through them until 2003 so they have to send everything before that year to the trustee. Now my trustee is saying they will pay my past creditors with that money even though my file has been closed for years. Can they do this even though the refund is before I even filed for bankruptcy or am I entitled to that money?

Yes, the trustee is obligated to do this as the money relates to a period prior to the bankruptcy and rightfully it is the creditors who should receive the benefit of these funds.
