New job while in bankruptcy
I am in Quebec and I am 4 months into my bankruptcy. I have recently started looking for a new job. I was contacted by one of the companies that I applied to for a second interview and they informed me that they will be doing a financial/criminal backround check on me prior to offering me the position. This is a life insurance company and I would be working in their accounting department, if I got the job. My question to you is will my bankruptcy affect my chances of getting this new job? I am very qualified for the position and have already been short-listed. Should I even bother going to the second interview? Thank you

The answer to this question really depends on the employment policies of the insurance company. While, I can’t comment on their policies, I would expect that you will have to address this issue at a second interview, so you would be well advised to think through the types of questions they may ask and the types of responses you want to provide. But I do suggest you go to the second interview, while we can’t predict the result of the interview you have a much greater likelihood of getting the job if you attend.
