In Canada, a Trustee is required to retain documents pertaining to a personal bankruptcy for at least 4 years from the date of the trustee’s discharge. Now this doesn’t specify it has to be on premises of the trustee and you will find that common practice is that if you need to obtain copies of these documents there will normally be a charge to pull the file.
