A licensed trustee said...

Possibly – it will depend on whether or not your spouse co-signed or co-borrowed any of your debts. If they did and you file bankruptcy (or a proposal) then your spouse will be held responsible for the debt. If they have not co-signed any of your debts then they should not be directly affected.
