Bankruptcy and Post Bankruptcy Tax Refunds

My husband and I claimed bankruptcy last year and the trustee filed out taxes for that year and kept the refund as we knew they would. Now we’ve just received a letter saying that they are to do our taxes for this year as well and that they are to also receive that refund, is that true?

Typically speaking a trustee will file income tax returns for the year of bankruptcy (i.e. both pre and post returns) and any previous years. As well, any GST returns or tax refunds for those periods are forfeited and create a benefit that ultimately goes to the creditors.
