Long time
Back in 1992 i filed for bankruptcy in Ontario, but was not discharged due to a creditor objecting. I am nearing forty years old and in legal limbo. I phoned my trustee in the last few years but he wont touch it. Can i cancel my bankruptcy or should i do something else?

You have the right to either hire a lawyer (or try yourself) to bring a motion before the Court requesting your discharge. The Court will likely say that you may have your discharge when they are satisfied that you have completed all of your responsibilities from your bankruptcy.
You’ll need to obtain from your trustee of the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy a copy of your Section 170 Report – that should tell you what you need to do. Then do it.
If you hire a lawyer and they send a request in writing to your trustee asking what you still have to do, your trustee will probably respond.
Good luck – for anyone else reading this entry please take this persons situation to heart. Bankruptcy laws were created to allow the honest, but unfortunate debtor to obtain relief from their debts – in order to obtain that relief, you have to complete the bankruptcy. You don’t get one without the other.
