my credit report after bankruptcy
Hi I filed for bankruptcy ,January 2001,I was discharged Oct 2001. I sent a copy of my discharge letter to Equifax right after ,I did not pay alot of attention to my credit report for a few years after . I got a copy of my report around 2004 it was full of odd information debts included in my bankruptcy and accounts opened during my bankruptcy it seemed very strange .I didn’t do much ,because I thought there wasn’t much I could do . I recently, Feb 2007 got another report from Equifax ,there were still some questionable things on it companies still reporting in 2002 ,2004 etc. included in my bankruptcy and an account opened in 2001 with a bad rating but owing $0. Iobviously received no credit after jan. 2001 . I called Equifax this time she said those strange accounts had been purged I guess in March 2007. I am waiting on a report from transunion and experion. Should I be concerned about all the strange activity at this point. thank you

At this point as long as the accounts have all been purged as Equifax claims you shouldn’t have to be to concerned. However, Equifax (and other credit bureau’s) commonly make mistakes of this nature, so it is a good idea for everyone to pull a copy of their credit history at least annually to ensure that there haven’t been any incorrect information logged under your name.
