About RSP

Hello,

I saw two different answers regarding RSP. One says I will lose it if I file for bankruptcy, the other says I will not lose it if the contribution is made more than one year ago. Which one is correct? Thanks!

The reason you would have found two different answers is that July 7, 2008 the laws regarding RRSP’s changed. Prior to that time any RRSP’s were lost if a bankruptcy filed. Now only contributions made in the 12 months prior to a bankruptcy are at risk.
