Marriage during Bankruptcy

November 17th, 2013 by Questions

If you are in the middle of a bankruptcy and you want to get married, will your spouse to be have to pay? This is if you’ve already filed for bankruptcy and you have your payment plan, if you get married will you have to pay more as your spouse’s income will have to be taken into account?

, A licensed trustee said:

You are required to keep your trustee informed about your living situation, the number of people in your household and the total household income while you remain in bankruptcy. If you are already living with your spouse to be and reporting their income then nothing is likely to change. If you are going to start living together after you get married then your payments may very well change – you need to contact your trustee and ask them to take a look at your situation and give you some advice.
