What happens if I declare bankruptcy and my common-law spouse receives an inheritance? Does my common-law spouse have to hand that money over to the trustee?

, A licensed trustee said:

Unless your spouse has also filed for bankruptcy, they are not required to disclose or surrender any of their assets. If you inherit money it will be surrendered to your trustee for the beenfit of your creditors, but your spouse should not be involved.
