Bankruptcy & immigration

March 21st, 2012 by Questions

Can bankruptcy affect immigration requests. either to immigrate to another country or to marry someone from another country and have him/her immigrate to Canada. I assume the answer is probably yes during process, but what after a nine month successful discharge?

The only problem I have seen is that while you are in a bankruptcy you are not eligible to sponsor someone to immigrate to Canada. But once you are discharged from the bankruptcy I haven’t seen any additional problems. To know for sure you are best to contact the Immigration Canada and ask.
