Visa Debit Card During Bankruptcy

August 10th, 2011 by Questions

I am considering filing for bankruptcy and wanted to know if I do can I still use Visa Debit cards? I see that a few banks are now offering this product and technically it is not a credit card since it only uses money from your bank account as it is by defalut a debit card that can be used as a Visa card when needed.

Since many things in life require credit cards, is this a product that would be allowed during bankruptcy since no real credit is actually being used?

A debit card is not a “credit card” and as such I see no reason why you could not continue to use one after you file either a consumer proposal or bankruptcy.
