court ordered costs are they cleared by bankruptcy
October 24th, 2010 by Questions
I am looking at my debt to see what may be included if I decide to declare bankruptcy. I have an amount owing that was a court order for costs payable to my ex in family court. Could this amount be included in the process and my ex considered a debtor?

When looking at court ordered costs and penalties and how they are impacted by the filing of a bankruptcy this forum is not going to be of much help.
What you need to do is take a copy of the court order and have it reviewed by a local trustee. This is because the root cause of the cost is important, some of these types of things are cleared by the filing of a bankruptcy, but others are not.
So schedule a time to review things with a local trustee and they will be able to advise you very quickly once they review the court order.
